Setting and lore
In Lydon the universe’s total lived time is immutable—every year bought, sold, or stolen is tracked by a unique, unforgeable chronal signature, and any counterfeit time instantly warps reality to preserve the cosmic law of time conservation.
World facts
- Time as Currency
- Lifespan is a tradable commodity, with time measured in years or other units that can be bought, sold, or stolen as property.
- Chronal Signatures
- Every legitimate time transaction is marked by a unique, unforgeable chronal signature that verifies ownership and prevents fraud under normal conditions.
- Conservation of Lived Time
- The total amount of lived time in the universe is fixed; creating counterfeit time distorts or displaces existing time, causing reality-warping anomalies.
- Power Dynamics
- Corporations dominate the time-currency system, while police enforce it, rebels oppose it, and time-fraud investigators navigate the tensions between these factions.
- Reality Distortions
- Violations of time conservation manifest as localized temporal anomalies, such as time loops, frozen moments, or accelerated decay, creating surreal and haunting effects.
